Thanks to Maoist Revolution.

Bhubaneswar (Orissa): CPI (Maoists) on Thursday called a three-day long down to dusk bandh (general trike) in Malkangiri district under the South-Western Police range in protest against the killing of two Comrades on May 16 by the Special Operation Group Jawans.

Roads in Motu, Kalimela, Beijingguda, MV-79, MV-99, Balimela, Chitrakonda, MV-70 and several others major locations of the districts were deserted.

The Maoist guerrillas have posted banners and distributing leaflets asking locals to support their bandh call.

“The May 16 police encounter was illegal and unconstitutional, ” a banner pasted in Motu area of the district reads. The poster further slammed the police excess on their cadres and combing operations being jointly carried by the Orissa Police and CRPF Jawans under the elite Special Operation Group.

Maoist rebels have blocked roads to Kalimela, Chitrakonda, Orkel and several other block headquarters protesting killing of two Comrades.

Southern-most District, Malkangiri shares its southern and eastern borders with Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and Khammam Districts of Andhra Pradesh, while in the west it is bordered by Chhattisgarh’ s Bastar District. Only its northern border retains a link with the State through the Koraput District.

Nearly 52 percent of the District is forested. The hilly terrain of the Eastern Ghats and the dense forests running through the District accentuate its remoteness and inaccessibility, which helps the Maoists to run away successfully after attacks on reactionary forces.
