Terai indigenous groups to continue protests against ‘One Madhes’

KATHMANDU, July 6 – Some 15 organisations concerning indigenous groups of Terai have decided to give continuity to their protests against the demand of Madhesh-based parties for recognition of the entire southern plains of the country as one single autonomous Madhes state.

The organisations including Tharu Kalyankarini Sabha (TKS) have announced to carryout half an hour long transport strike at Shantinagar in the capital on Sunday.

They have been staging demonstrations and organising corner meeting in various parts of the country stating the supplementary amendment bill brought about to address the demand of the Madhes-based parties is a betrayal to the indigenous and marginalised communities living in Terai region.
