Maoists not to join next government

KATHMANDU, July 22 – The Maoists, who garnered the most seats in the April Constituent Assembly (CA) elections, said Tuesday they would not to join the post-election government.

Addressing a press conference at the Maoist parliamentary party office at Singha Durbar, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said the decision was made by the party central secretariat to stay away from the next government after its presidential candidate was dumped out in Monday’s presidential run-off.

The Maoist Chairman said that his party considers the latest political developments and their nature as “counter-revolutionary’” despite the immensely important historical achievements post CA polls.

“Various undemocratic attempts have been made to weave a “counter-revolution” against our party ever since our party emerged as the largest party through the CA elections,” the Maoist Chairman said. Read the rest of this entry »
