Unified CPN-Maoist passes new `communism’ statute

Kantipur Report KATHMANDU, Feb 2 – Unified CPN-Maoist on Monday passed its new statute with an objective to reach communism all the way through socialism.

A meeting of the party held at the parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar today endorsed the new statute after the unification of party with the CPN-Ekata Kendra Masal.

The newly approved statute mentions that the party will lay the foundation for attaining its objective of communism by drafting a new people-oriented constitution.

The new statute was passed after the lawmakers expressed their views on the statute draft tabled at the meeting, Amik Sherchan informed. During the meeting, Maoist ministers representing the cabinet explained about their concerned ministries’ functioning details.

The statute has a provision that party’s chief leader and deputy leader can be removed through the vote of confidence. Likewise, as per the statute the party leader should convene a parliamentary meeting within fifteen days if one fourth of the parliamentary leaders demanded for the same.

Similarly, there is also a provision to form a board under the leadership of one of the lawmakers and the board will carry out the entire functions in case the party meeting failed to take place.

Unfortunately not that I’m aware of. Although that doesn’t rule out the possibility. The language of this article is a bit murky, so it’s very difficult (at least for me) to understand the implications.
