Maoist-led govt within few weeks, claims Prachanda

Kantipur Report

KATHMANDU, June 29 – Unified CPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Monday claimed that a national consensus government under the leadership of his party would be formed within the next few weeks.

The Maoist Chairman said so while speaking at the closing ceremony of the Maoist politburo meeting that had kicked off in the capital on June 16 to discuss Dahal’s political document.

He said that a national government would be formed soon under the leadership of the Maoists and claimed that the government would take the peace process to a logical end and draft the new constitution.
The former rebel-turned Prime Minster said,” Few days back, a London-based newspaper had debated that the current government is a guest for few months. They are anxiously waiting the future course of Nepal whether it would move towards peace or war.”

“That’s why nothing is going to happen through this government. This is an illegitimate coalition and even the children have understood that this government is against the popular mandate,” he said.

“Despite knowing that the President’s move was unconstitutional, the Nepali Congress and UML leaders have stood in favor of the President fearing the capture of states by the Maoist,” added Dahal.

“But now, it has been clear that the Maoists are not in favour of capturing the state but to logically finish the peace process and the constitution drafting. They have now realised that it was a big mistake to support the president’s move and have started pondering over a new government with Maoists’ participation,” said he.

The Maoist Chairman, however, went no to say that it was unimaginable for the Maoists to think about joining the current coalition.

The politburo meeting endorsed Dahal’s political document after making necessary amendments and revisions.
