YCL forms sections, platoons in Udayapur
UDAYAPUR: The Young Communist League (YCL), youth wing of the UCPN (Maoist), is spreading its wings in this eastern district. YCL district coordinator Jiban Karki aka Kushal said the youth wing had formed sections and platoons in more than 30 VDCs as per the party district committee’s decision of Sept. 5, 2009.
“We have constituted section at the village and platoon at the VDC level,” said Karki. The plan, maintains Karki, is to form a company in each ilaka. Karki informed that the district will have a brigade comprising about 2,000 paramilitary personnel. Each section and platoon has 11 and 60 paramilitary personnel, respectively, according to the YCL coordinator.
A company was recently formed at Murkuchi Bazaar of Rauta VDC under the command of Prabhat Lama, said Karki. The Maoist youth wing has formed companies in Ilaka numbers 3 and 6 under the coordination of Yoga Khatiwada and Hom Kiranti, respectively. A company consists of more than 300 personnel. “We will accomplish the mission of turning the YCL into a paramilitary force in the district by mid-January. However, we will demonstrate the force on Feb. 13,” informed Karki.
He, however, said the force would not have uniform and weapons. “The force will not stay in the barracks for now. But it will be sheltered in a separate place if time demands,” said Karki.
