Quit UML, join Maoist: Prachanda to Bamdev

Bam Dev Gautam, one of the senior leaders of the ruling Nepal Communist Party-United Marxist Leninists has received open invitation to join the Unified Maoists’ Party. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ the Maoists’ Party chairman forwarded the open-invitation to Mr. Gautam while both leaders were participating at a program held in Kathmandu Friday January 29, 2010.

Gautam who spoke before Prachanda had in fact complained that he was being continuously alleged as a Maoist in the UML Camp by his own party colleagues. Prachanda did not let this opportunity slip out of his hands. Look what he said:

“Comrade Gautam…we know that you have been struggling hard in your party…now I request you to revolt in the UML”, said Prachanda adding “We are ready to welcome you in our revolutionary party.”

The presence of Bam Dev at the program organized by a Maoists’ party affiliate was itself intriguing. Is he really a Maoist?

Bam Dev is considered as a strong communist however prior to he joined Nepali politics he had served the Indian Army. Bam Dev also criticizes India very  now and then.

Further, said Prachanda in the course of his speech he needs support from Nationalists and Republicans to guarantee National Independence. He added, “Nepal faces threats to Nationalism and Sovereignty only from India.”
