People’s War Anniversary: ‘Hopes, challenges ahead’
KATHMANDU – Coinciding with the 15th anniversary of ‘People’s War’, the UCPN (Maoist) on Saturday launched its fifth phase of protests aimed at ‘reaching out to people’ across the country to ensure peace, statute and national sovereignty.
Although certain goals are met, there are challenges ahead, reads a press statement issued by the party on the occasion of the anniversary. It also calls on all the nationalist, democratic and republican forces to unite to ensure the success of people’s revolution.
Inaugurating national sports championship organised by the Sports Club of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to mark the anniversary, Maoist Chairman Puhspa Kamal Dahal said peace and statute were the need of the day. “But some forces are still acting against peace and statute. We will wage a decisive battle to foil such ploys,” said Dahal. “I want to take this opportunity to remind you all that our revolution is at a decisive point with possibilities and challenges galore.”
