Maoists not to join govt

KATHMANDU, Feb 25: Accusing the CPN-UML central committee of taking an ambiguous decision on the seven-point agreement, the UCPN (Maoist) standing committee meeting on Friday upheld its earlier decision not to join the UML-led government.

The Maoists, however, decided to support the Khanal-led coalition by staying outside the government.

“We decided not to join the government until the seven-point agreement is implemented in letter and spirit,” said the Maoist Spokesperson Dinanath Sharma after the meeting.

“We couldn´t take decision to join the government because the UML decision is just like water that takes shape of the vessel into which it is poured,” said Sharma. “We will support the government as long as it doesn´t go against the seven-point deal,” he said. Read the rest of this entry »
