Revolt the pill for all ills: Maoist leader
TIKA R PRADHAN
KATHMANDU: UCPN-Maoist General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ today said that a revolt is a must to rid the party and the country of all ills.
“We should not waste time discussing differences within the leadership. Their sanctity will be determined once the party goes for people’s revolt,” Thapa told the Newa State Committee cadres at Khanna Garment.
He claimed that the existing problems in the party and the country cannot be resolved without destroying the old structures and that can only be possible through the people’s revolt.
The Maoist leader said the party has become a platform for different interest groups, but the ones without revolutionary zeal will be wiped out in due course of time.
In defence of the recently-launched People’s Volunteers (PV), Thapa said revolt will not be possible with a handful of people. “Therefore, the PV is a must to win the hearts of the people through social security and development programmes,” he said.
He said the PV will be the largest force to push the people’s revolt towards success. “The people’s volunteers will first identify the agents, feudals, regressive forces and smear shoot on their faces. They will defend themselves if the agents try to resist,” added Thapa.
Instead of fighting separately, all the fronts of the party will be centralised and deployed for the revolt through the PV, he said.
Thapa said the party was for forming a new front on the basis of the seven-point agreement signed with the UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal. He further said the international forces have attacked the party’s important organs, including the trade union and the Tarai-based party organisation.
During the function, Newa State Committee in-charge Hitman Shakya said the dispute within the trade union is a ‘designed plot’ to split the party.
